Stockton, NSW, Australia (2008)

Stockton is a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, located 1 km (0.6 mi) across the Hunter River from Newcastle's central business district. It is the only suburb of Newcastle that lies north of the Hunter River.  The mural features surviving miners of the Stockton Colliery Disaster of 1896; the Stockton Dinkum Girls, who raised funds for World War I; the school gardens of Stockton Public School in the early 1900s; and Callens’ boat yard.  The mural was painted by mural designer and artist Holly McNamee and a number of different community members.
