Mendooran, NSW, Australia (2008)

Mendooran (Pop: ~320) is a small country town approximately 350 km west of Sydney. Along the Castlereagh River, nestled amongst large gum trees, there is located a public rest area that has free cold water showers and toilet facilities. In the town can be found about 10 colourful murals reflecting scenes from local history and rural life. Murals were painted by former resident, Karin Duce.  The great bullock scene on the pub corner depicts a dray packed sky high with wool bales, hauled by a team of bullocks. In early days, these teams would have travelled well over 100 km along dusty country roads to Mudgee - the closest connection to rail transport.
