Halls Creek, WA, Australia (2008)

Halls Creek was the site of Western Australia's first Gold Rush. It is located in the East Kimberly Region of Western Australia. The town is a support centre for remote cattle stations in the area. For tourists it is the only sizeable town for 600 km on the Great Northern Highway. It is a major welfare hub for the local indigenous Jaru (Djar-u) and Kija (gKid-ja) peoples as well as some Tjurabalan peoples from the Great Sandy Desert to the south of the town.
