Kurri Kurri, NSW, Australia (2008)

Kurri Kurri (Aboriginal for 'the very first') is a mural town inland from Newcastle on the NSW mid-coast. In 2003 the Kurri Kurri (and surrounding towns) 'Towns With Heart' group decided to undertake a ‘Mural Project' with the aim of getting more of the thousands of cars that pass through the towns to stop and see what area has to offer. Kurri Kurri now has over 40 murals showcasing the areas history, heritage and uniqueness.
